SRT® Hallmarks: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT: Expanding the palette.
A common trend as SRT® continues to make its mark as a stand-alone brand is the expansion of the palette of colors offered on the entire lineup of vehicles. Case in point is the 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT which will see seven available hues, nearly doubling the offerings of past years.
The four standard colors on the SRT palette since the beginning have been: red, black, silver and gray. The 2014 lineup of colors on the Grand Cherokee SRT is an expansion of that list with several of the base colors taking on an identity all their own. The color palette for the 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT consists of Deep Cherry Red, Redline, Maximum Steel, Granite Crystal, Billet Silver, Brilliant Black Crystal and Bright White.
"Looking at the 2014 color and materials palette in general, SRT has really grown in paint colors," said Jim Parker, Head of Exterior Color & Trim Studio, Chrysler Product Design Office. "We are working to take SRT beyond just being a performance car. The design office has always looked at what the SRT brand could be. Now that we have a new, specific brand that wants to grow, that gives us the opportunity to do that."
Inside the 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT a brand-new sepia interior is being offered, as black was the color of choice in the first pair of Grand Cherokee SRTs offered in 2012 and 2013. Coupled with various exterior and interior options and packages offered, numerous combinations will be available on the Grand Cherokee SRT to really spotlight the exterior colors.
"The interiors are absolutely stunning, and offering something other than just black allows us to do more things," noted Parker. "When we did the Alpine edition that gave us some options to play around with on the interior now as well. I think you'll see a whole package starting to go on. We're going to start making some different versions of the Grand Cherokee SRT for the future for all these customers looking for something different."
Always with an eye to the future, SRT designers are experimenting with a new generation of colors, including some that are lighter than the traditional hues the brand has been known for.
"The recent addition of Redline Red indicates that maybe we'll start going to brighter colors," shared Parker. "The red is a good indicator and marker that we can maybe grow into something more bright."
A brand-new 2014 Grand Cherokee warranted new exterior colors and the design team at SRT stepped up to the plate and hit one out of the park.
