Every other year SRT® Viper owners from across the world unite for the largest bi-annual gathering of the iconic supercar. That time is now as the 2012 Viper Owner Invitational converges on Charlotte, North Carolina, this weekend for three full days of on-track activities. Approximately 850 Viper owners who are all members of the Viper Club of America will meet in the "Queen City" for some camaraderie and to share their passion for the SRT Viper.

Befitting a great performance vehicle like the Viper, Charlotte Motor Speedway and zMax Dragway will host an array of on-track driving activities, Friday through Sunday. Exclusive question-and-answer sessions with driving pros will be offered throughout the weekend to prepare SRT Viper owners for their time spent on the track.

Viper owners will have multiple chances to test their on-track skills throughout the weekend. An autocross track will be set up at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and participants will take to the road course in the infield of the famed 1.5-mile oval. Viper owners will even try their hand on some race-prepared go-karts. Acceleration and straight-line speed will be measured during sessions at zMax Dragway located across from Charlotte Motor Speedway.

A large contingent of Viper owners from the home of the supercar - the Motor City - will be descending on Charlotte for this 12th edition of the Viper Owner Invitational, including Sam Milana and his wife Angelika, who are making the 700-mile trek from Macomb, Michigan, in their Red 1994 Viper. For the couple, it will be their first visit to the Viper Owner Invitational. While en route to Charlotte they were met up with a group of fellow Viper owners from Arizona as well as Florida, and spent some time together sightseeing in the Smokey Mountains and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, before continuing their caravan.

"We are absolutely excited and can't wait to get to Charlotte and see other Viper owners from across the nation," said Sam, during a break in the drive on Wednesday. "It's going to be a great opportunity for us to get together with a lot of fellow owners that we have communicated with online through the forums. To put a face with some of the names and posts we've read will be great. This is the longest trip I've ever taken the car on, so to be traveling with a larger group makes me feel a little more comfortable. It's been a blast so far and the weather looks perfect all weekend, which will make it an even greater time."

While at the track, Viper owners will be able to test out each current member of the SRT family. The brand-new 2013 SRT Viper and Viper GTS-R race car will be on display for an up-close and personal look.

The 2012 Viper Owner Invitational begins on Thursday, September 27, with registration, followed by a welcome reception and dinner with guest speakers on-hand. Following the reception and dinner, a memorabilia display will be set up at the Concord Convention Center for Viper owners to peruse, along with an opportunity to shop numerous vendor displays.

On Saturday, September 29, a special SRT Night dinner will be held, featuring SRT Executives giving presentations related to the SRT Viper. The 2012 Viper Owner Invitational concludes on Sunday, September 30, with on-track activities and a charity auction.
