While its counterpart was in competition with the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Road America in Wisconsin, the show SRT Viper GTS-R race car was helping to celebrate the past, present and future of road racing, during the annual Monterey Motorsports Reunion in California on Saturday, August 18, at the legendary Laguna Seca Raceway.

Race cars from a wide spectrum of decades took to the track at Laguna Seca Raceway, as part of the Monterey Peninsula's Classic Car Week. Helping bridge the past and present, as well as setting up the future of motorsports for SRT was the brand-new Viper GTS-R. A new generation of motorsports fans and automotive enthusiasts were able to get an up-close and personal look at the racing machine that has been victorious over the years at both Le Mans and Daytona.

A picture perfect day greeted attendees at the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course, which features some of the most breathtaking scenery and elevation changes in all of racing. More than 500 historic racing vehicles took to the track that is often referred to as one of the most challenging circuits in the world. On this day, all-out speed took a back seat, while a true appreciation of the tradition and history of motorsports was front and center.

The SRT Viper GTS-R was the center of attention under the SRT canopy, and was flanked by the entire current SRT lineup, which is presently traversing the country as part of the 2012 SRT Tour. The 300 SRT, Challenger SRT, Charger SRT and Grand Cherokee SRT greeted those in attendance. A loyal contingent of SRT owners, who had followed the tour from Wyoming earlier this week in their own SRTs to California, had their vehicles on display as well at Laguna Seca.

Continuing SRT's presence on the West Coast this weekend, the recently unveiled SRT Viper Launch Edition, with its iconic GTS Blue body and Bright White stripes, will be on display at Pebble Beach on Sunday, August 19.

SRT owners, fans and enthusiasts from coast-to-coast and worldwide have been keeping in touch and up-to-date with all of the weekend's happenings in California, on the track at Road America, and at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, via SRT's strong social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
