A world-class race car requires world-class drivers. SRT Motorsports has been assembling some of the finest road racers in the world for the return of the SRT Viper GTS-R to the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The last piece of the driver puzzle is Jonathan Bomarito who joins Ryan Hunter-Reay as a driver during endurance races.

Bomarito, a road racing veteran, won earlier this season in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Series at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. The native of Monterrey, California, scored the biggest win of his career in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2010 in the GT class, driving a Riley Technologies chassis car. SRT Motorsports partnered with Riley on the design and build of the new SRT Viper GTS-R race cars. Bomarito is expected to make his debut for the SRT Viper GTS-R team during the Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta on October 20th.

"Getting to race a few of these big races has been a huge goal of mine as a driver," said Bomarito. "To be a part of SRT Motorsports and Riley Technologies, two huge companies in the motorsports world, is definitely a major add for my resume. I'm very, very excited to be a part of a program like this."

Bomarito began his career racing karts, winning the Stars of Tomorrow championship in 2000. He raced open wheel cars from 2003–2008, winning five Formula Atlantic races along the way. The 30-year old made his first sports car start in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2005, and transitioned into that arena in 2009.

The pair of Viper GTS-R race cars, which have completed three successful tests, will make their competitive return in a three-hour ALMS event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio on August 4th. The driver roster for the SRT Viper GTS-R team includes: Dominik Farnbacher, Marc Goossens, Tommy Kendall and Kuno Wittmer. Ryan Hunter-Reay and Bomarito round out the team for longer endurance races.

The SRT Viper GTS-R will compete in a partial ALMS schedule this season, before embarking on a full-time campaign with the series in 2013. For more information on the return of the 2013 SRT Viper GTS-R to ALMS competition, visit www.drivesrt.com/racing.
