Grand Cherokee SRT wows Autocar

The Grand Cherokee SRT is making quite an impression abroad. The super SUV first touched down in Europe earlier this year when Formula 1 superstars Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were given the keys to a pair of custom Grand Cherokee SRTs at the Fiorano circuit in Maranello, Italy. International appeal continues as the world-class SUV is now turning heads in England.

Autocar, the UK's definitive source for expert road tests and reviews, recently took the Grand Cherokee SRT for its first drive, running the vehicle through a variety of tests to evaluate performance, styling, fuel economy and handling among a host of stringent criteria. The SRT's SUV passed Autocar's test with flying colors.

"The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the fastest and most powerful Jeep ever produced, and it is utterly bonkers with it," said Autocar. "The mission for SRT was to splice the performance and comfort of a high-class saloon with the all-wheel-drive practicality of an SUV."

The Grand Cherokee SRT received glowing marks from the internationally recognized website for its power and performance, along with the interior and exterior style that the vehicle exudes. One of the fastest SUVs in the world, the Grand Cherokee SRT is propelled from 0 – 60 MPH in 4.8 seconds thanks to its muscular 470 -horsepower 6.4-liter V-8. Brembo binders harness that power, bringing the vehicle to a stop from 60-0 MPH in just 116 feet.

"The Grand Cherokee SRT offers a superior bang-for-buck ratio to all of its rivals in this sector, including the prestigious German brands," noted Autocar.
