Brad Keselowski Takes Third Sprint Cup Win at Kentucky.
Brad Keselowski took his third NASCAR Sprint Cup win of the year under the lights at Kentucky Speedway Saturday evening. After taking the lead with 56 laps to go, Keselowski kept the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge out front till the end. The latest win not only gives him a boost in the point standings, but sets him apart as the sole driver in the Sprint Cup series with three wins.
Undeniably an impressive feat, the win didn’t come without its share of difficulties. “What a weekend,” said Keselowski. “It started off, we hit the wall on Lap 1 in practice and brought out the backup. This is my Martinsville car from the Chase last year. This isn’t the newest car we have, but it sure runs. I’m real proud of my team. The Miller Lite Dodge was a fast racecar tonight.”
Keselowski made sure to credit the hard work of his team. “They put together a backup car from last year in the hundred degree heat in an hour’s time. Not even an hour; I think it was like 40 minutes,” he said. “We fought back from adversity all weekend in 100 degree temperatures. Got this car out and got it ready for practice. It was a lot of hard work. And that’s what got us here in Victory Lane.”
Keselowski remains in 10th place in the Sprint Cup point standings after Saturday’s win. That position is the final guaranteed spot in the Chase for the championship, but the three wins are huge for the two wild card spots. As the only driver to visit Sprint Cup’s Victory Lane three times this season, he leads all competitors for the wild card spots which reward most victories, if needed.
