The interior of the Challenger SRT8® has a flair for style and functionality.
It's not just what's under the hood, or on the outside of the car, that sets the Challenger SRT8® apart. Upon opening the doors, vibrant hues meet the eye from all corners. From the seats, to the pedals, to the steering wheel and all points in between, style is personified.
LaShirl Turner, Head of Advance Color & Materials, SRT, and Mark Trostle, Head of Design, SRT, spent countless hours during the design phase of the Challenger SRT8, massaging the interior to be as striking and functional as possible - a benchmark of the SRT brand.
A new satin silver tone has been used predominately in the layout of the interior of the Challenger SRT8, with suede and leather seats the focal point. A combination of materials speak to the performance of the Challenger, including leather bolsters that are joined with perforated suede inserts on the seats, providing a very sporty, yet functional look and feel. Silver accent stitching also is present in the Challenger SRT8 in a subtle way that adds to the overall tone of the interior.
"This color has a little more pop and punch to it, and adds a little more excitement to the performance of the vehicle," said Turner. "If you combine the accents with the leather and suede on the seats it gives a really nice looking performance-based and sporty seat."
The shifter knob is one of the most unique and key elements inside of the Challenger SRT8, as it's the only model among the SRT lineup that has the "392" insignia on it. The Challenger SRT8 also is the only model offered by the brand with a manual transmission, making it arguably the most track-worthy vehicle in the lineup.
"The Challenger is probably the most ‘tracked' vehicle in our lineup," said Trostle. "The Challenger is the one that our customers enjoy throwing around the track. Everything from the exterior to the interior of an SRT vehicle has to function and we try to make them look as beautiful as we can in the process."
