Volcano Racing: Best result of the season in the FIA GT Championship race in difficult rounds 9 and 10 at Red Bull Ring in Austria.

(Translated from German) Mayen / Wassenach. Last weekend, the Vulcan Racing Mintgen Motorsport team launched back into the FIA GT Championship at the new Red Bull Ring in Austria, which provided the team with new, more difficult challenges.

Shortly before the start of the first race on Saturday, the drivers were watching the sky due to the ever-changing weather conditions. The track was not completely dry nor was it too wet. Courageously deciding upon one profile of tubeless tires, a thrilling qualifying run was completed to secure the 4th starting position. Driver Heiko Mutton took to the track and during the race fought many duels to stay out in front of the field.

During the race the rain was always a factor, with many competitors being turned off by the track. As a result, for the first time this season, a pit stop to switch to rain tires became necessary. The two pilots, Heiko Hammel (Wohlmutshausen) — and, after the pit stop, Sascha Bert (Ober Ramstadt) — were able to keep the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe GT3 safely on the track and with good lap times. The wages of their labor saw them achieving an overall 10th place in the first race and two points for the team.

"Both our drivers have accomplished a very great achievement," said Manfred Sattler, praising this two drivers and his team after the race. "The conditions were extremely difficult, and now we can be pleased with our first Top 10 result."

The race on Sunday offered weather conditions altogether the opposite from Saturday, but the bright sunshine and the high temperatures became the new challenge for both pilots — Sascha Bert and Heiko Hammel — who crossed the finish line in 16th place.

"The starting position of 21st was perhaps a bit unfortunate, but we were satisfied with the outcome. The power density at the ADAC GT Masters is really high, and that must be not forgotten," Michael Mintgen said, summing up his team's weekend endeavors. "I am also glad that our car worked well all weekend."

After the run at Red Bull Ring, the season has reached mid-term. The enhanced design of Mintgen Motorsport Dodge Viper GT3 Competition Coupe throughout the course of the season has made great progress, demonstrating its performance capability regularly in both testing and in races. This has also been proven out by achieving the fourth fastest time in qualifying by pilot Heiko Hammel. The price-performance ratio is as unique now to customers as it was before.

After the first half of the season, following an enjoyable weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, the Mintgen Team is confident as it looks forward to the next run at the Euro Speedway Lausitz in early September, with the Viper continuing to take a bite out of the FIA GT Championship.
