Dodge Viper GT3 opens Australian GT season with two podiums in Adelaide

VIPER COMPETITION COUPE driver Greg Crick clinched a hard-fought pair of podium places in the season-opening round of the 2011 Vodka O Australian GT Championship in Adelaide last month.

Crick’s MOPAR Dodge Viper GT3 finished third in the one-hour night race on Friday, then, in a reversal of results, he finished second in his Viper and Mark Eddy third in the Audi Penfold R8 LMS. Crick took advantage of a mistake by the Audi driver at turn nine (at the end of Brabham Straight) and got through in his Viper, then the two drivers raced no more than two car lengths apart for the rest of the event.

“It was fantastic – I wouldn’t change a thing about it,” 2007 Vodka O Australian GT Champion Greg Crick said.

“The night race was spectacular and even though we lost about ten seconds on our in lap somehow, I think the format itself works really well.”

The Vodka O Australian GT Championship took an eight-week break ahead of the next round at Winton Raceway, Victoria, New South Wales Australia on May 20-22.
