SRT celebrates a decade of performance at the North American International Auto Show.

The North American International Auto Show has always held a special place of honor in the history of SRT. From the debut of the Viper concept in 1989 to the first Prowler concept in 1993, the Detroit stage has always been the first stop for ideas that would later lead to the debut of an SRT-badged Ram, Viper and Neon in 2002.

Ten years later, SRT celebrates a decade of passionate performance by hosting an independent display within the Chrysler Group space at the show. It’s a spiritual homecoming, where auto show patrons in the Motor City can experience the tremendous exterior design presence and detailed interior accommodations of SRT vehicles firsthand. On display for the first time is a full collection of SRT lifestyle goods, including custom Oakley Pit Bull sunglasses and limited-issue tees featuring the next-generation Viper emblem.

SRT continues to stay closely focused on communities as it grows into its status as an independent brand. To kick off the 2012 show, SRT marketing and motorsports manager Beth Paretta joined Social Media Club - Detroit and Tweetea for a meeting of the minds to discuss how social media has made it possible to continue serving the passionate owners of past vehicles. Detroit’s brightest social media minds also learned how SRT uses digital tools to stoke enthusiasm about the brand among fans of competitive products. Social Media Club Detroit and Tweetea members were able to learn how SRT’s high-performance lineup is backed by equally responsive social media channels, giving owners and fans a direct line to the actual engineers who create these vehicles.

Through the duration of the show, several SRT owner clubs will be meeting on the show floor to take in the sights, scents and textures of the new lineup. SRT Nation, an independent Facebook fan page, plans to tour the show Monday morning. #Moparchat, an independent Twitter-based weekly discussion, is set to host a live chat Monday evening. Tweetea and SMCD members plan to tour the show Tuesday evening, as well. If your SRT club is planning a group tour, let us know on Facebook or Twitter. Let our friendly product specialists know that your club is representing. And be sure to snap a photo. We’ll need some when we celebrate our second decade soon.
