The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT® Hellcat took center stage on Saturday, September 27, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas during the Barrett-Jackson auction. The first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat off the line, VIN #0001, was on the auction block to raise money for charity.
When the final gavel fell on the exclusive Vin #0001 Stryker Red 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, $825,000 was the winning bid. After matching contributions from the Engelstad Family Foundation, a total of $1.65M, more than any other charity vehicle in Barrett Jackson history, was raised. Funds will go to Opportunity Village, a not-for-profit organization that serves people with significant intellectual disabilities in the Las Vegas area.Opportunity Village was the benefactor of this gift because the Engelstad Family Foundation, arguably Las Vegas’ most generous benefactors, believes in the organization’s 60-year track record of delivering on promises, and the fact that Opportunity Village continues to improve the lives of nearly 3000 individuals annually with hundreds more on a waiting list to be served. Barrett-Jackson waives all commissions and fees for charity vehicles, allowing 100 percent of the sale price to be donated.
VIN #0001 is the only Challenger ever to feature a Viper-exclusive Stryker Red exterior – hand-painted at the Viper paint facility, and the car also has special SRT Hellcat badging, specific VIN documentation and one-of-a-kind memorabilia.
The one-of-one special-edition VIN #0001 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is powered by the 6.2-liter supercharged SRT Hellcat engine that produces 707 horsepower with 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The muscle-bound car also has a class-exclusive TorqueFlite® 8-speed paddle shift automatic transmission with rev-matching downshifts, 15.4-inch Brembo® front disc brakes with two-piece rotors and six-piston calipers — the largest brakes ever offered by Chrysler Group — and 20-by-9.5-inch Matte Black Slingshot wheels.
On the inside is premium black Laguna leather on performance-oriented seats. The widely popular SRT flat-bottom steering wheel comes standard, along with a Tic-Toc-Tach gauge cluster with unique red display and a 200 MPH speedometer. A modern dash layout with an 8.4-inch touchscreen provides all of the technology features one would expect, and an authentic forged-aluminum supercharger plenum cover is under the hood.
Included in the auction package were a HEMI® Orange painted presentation box with VIN #0001 electronic vehicle build book and video documentary, still shots, vehicle footage, an authentic Challenger SRT Hellcat embossed Laguna Leather iPad sleeve, a signed SRT Hellcat lithograph and a unique “birth certificate” for VIN #0001.
