Racing season is in full swing for Viper owners in NARRA.

The North American Road Racing Association (NARRA) has been home to many Viper competitors for over 20 years. Another exciting season is under way, with action scheduled for this weekend at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, and the running of the Whelen Grand Prix of Georgia. A number of Viper owners will be competing in a variety of classes at the 12-turn, 2.540-mile natural terrain road course.

The North American Road Racing Association is the sanctioning body, promoter and event operator for the US GT Championship and Whelen US TimeTrial Championship, of which current and past model Vipers are eligible to race. Classes within these series include: GT-U, GT-1 and GT-2, along with TT-U, TT-1 and TT-2. Over 60 Viper owners are currently registered with NARRA for competition.

Current SRT® Viper GTS-R drivers Jonathan Bomarito and Kuno Wittmer cut their teeth with the US GT Championship under the NARRA banner during their ascent up the racing ladder. Ben Keating, pilot of the SRT Viper GT3-R in the GT Daytona class of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, also is a past NARRA competitor.

The mission of NARRA is to provide a fun racing environment and “camaraderie to match the competition.” Along with on-track racing, NARRA events also include social gatherings, banquets and Viper car club corrals.

The organization visits some of the most historic road courses in North America, including: Lime Rock Park, Road Atlanta, Sebring International Raceway, Virginia International Raceway and Watkins Glen.

NARRA opened the season last month at NOLA Motorsports Park near New Orleans, with Jody Gleason taking the win in the US GT Championship on the opening day, leading a Viper sweep of the top five positions. Keith Prociuk was victorious on the second day, with Vipers claiming the top four spots. George MacDonald turned the fastest lap and thus picked up the win in his Viper Competition Coupe in the TT1 class of the Whelen US TimeTrial Championship.
